Instructions to Author

Current Research in Crop and Soil Science  is the official biannual, peer-reviewed publication of the School of Agriculture, DRIEMS University, Tangi, Cuttack, Odisha. The journal invites scholarly contributions in the form of original research articles, review articles, systematic reviews, case studies, and reports related to agricultural education, extension and farm management.

CRCSS aims to promote excellence in crop and soil science research and advance scientific knowledge for agricultural practice, education, innovation, and sustainable resource management. The journal publishes high-quality research, reviews, and contemporary issues relevant to crop production, soil health, climate-smart agriculture, and environmental sustainability.

The intended readers of this journal include students, academicians, researchers, scientists, extension professionals, and agricultural practitioners who are dedicated to advancing agricultural science and applying evidence-based practices.

Submission of Articles

Manuscripts may be submitted electronically via email to the Editor at:editor.crcssjournal @driems.ac.in

All submissions must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12, single-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides, and saved in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).

The manuscript file should include the following components:

  1. Title Page

This page should include:

  • Type of article: Original Research / Systematic Review / Review Article / Case Study / Report
  • A concise and self-explanatory title (not exceeding 25 words)
  • Full names of all authors (with highest academic degree, designation, and institutional affiliation)
  • Department(s) and institution(s) where the work was carried out
  • Full contact details of the corresponding author (address, email, and phone number)
  1. Abstract
  • For research articles, review articles, systematic reviews: maximum 250 words
  • For case studies: maximum 150 words

Abstracts of research articles must be structured under the following headings:
Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion

At the end of the abstract, provide 3 to 10 keywords.

  1. Introduction

A brief introduction outlining the purpose of the study, background information, and relevance to existing research. Only essential information should be included.

  1. Materials and Methods

This section must contain:

  • Detailed description of materials, instruments, chemicals, and experimental design
  • Sufficient details to ensure reproducibility by other researchers
  • Proper acknowledgment and permission for borrowed/adapted tables or figures, with credit lines in footnotes
  1. Results and Discussion
  • Present results clearly and concisely
  • Combine or separate Results and Discussion sections depending on preference
  • Tables and figures must be placed at appropriate positions in the text with clear numbering, titles, and explanatory headings
  • Ensure that all labels (table/figure/graph text) are editable text, not embedded within images
  • Photographs/graphs must be clear, high-resolution digital files
  • Interpret findings logically and connect them to existing scientific literature
  1. Conclusion

Summarize the key findings and state their significance in relation to crop and soil science.

  1. References

References must be numbered in order of appearance in the text and cited using superscript numbers. Follow the formats below:

Journal Articles

Author(s) (surname initials). Title of article. Journal title abbreviated. Year; Volume(Issue): Page numbers.

Books / Monographs

Patents

Author(s). Title. Patent Number; Year.

Example:

Web Sources

Title of document/Report. Website link. Accessed on date.

Example:

  1. Acknowledgements (if any)

Mention individuals or institutions who supported the study, including funding sources, equipment, field assistance, or laboratory support.

  1. Conflicts of Interest

Authors must declare any potential conflicts of interest, financial or otherwise.
